Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco but mine was firmly planted in Seville. I was moved to tears with the spiritual and architectural sensory overload of the Seville Cathedral. It reminded me of my visit to the Statute of David in Florence many years ago. Seville’s fascinating history is documented at Archivo de Indas, a tremendous educational experience. A lovely stroll from old town to the Plaza Despania is also a sight to behold. And for those like myself who tend to veer away from the “overly touristy” options, we found a wonderful and authentic performance of flamingo dancers and singers at a small venue located in the old town. WHERE TO STAY
First impressions are always key on a trip and when we opened the doors to our stunning balcony at the Hotel Inglaterra, we knew we hit the jackpot. The massive terrace – you could practise a very long golf putt- was only matched by the stunning view of the Cathedral, which is situated only 400 metres away. There is endless shopping and dining nearby but you won’t want to miss the hotel’s rooftop terrace with panoramic views and delicious cocktails.
