Many people may think I am crazy. After all, who decides to enter an open swim race in Barbados with less than two months to prepare? Yes, that would be me. I mean how hard can it be? I swam regularly as a kid in Northern Ontario lakes. No problem! A few weeks ago I decided to take my first practise swim at the Langham Hotel in Chicago while visiting the beautiful windy city. After 6 laps, I was exhausted. Now the reality check. I need at least 65 laps to reach the 1.5 km distance of the race. And that is not factoring in the added challenge of swimming in an ocean with a number of other people splashing about next to you. Stay tuned.
